Our featured project this month is Ivanhoe House, a stunning family home currently making its way through the design stages at our studio. This architecturally designed home combines easy entertaining with family comfort.

Ivanhoe House provides abundant space for a comfortable family home. The home is split into two main zones, and each zone is dedicated to different modes of living: recreation and rest. The recreational zone includes the generous kitchen, living and dining areas. It features two large living areas – one indoors, and one for outdoor entertainment.
The zone dedicated to rest features three spacious bedrooms, one of which is a master bedroom with its own walk-in robe and ensuite. This physical separation creates a sense of calm and tranquillity in this area.

The layout of the home is based on our Juno 03 design.

The black, metal-clad modules with timber feature elements, create a sense of timeless elegance. The design incorporates two spacious decking elements, which create outdoor entertainment spaces.

The architectural language of the exterior finishes is echoed in the interiors. The timber flooring creates a feeling of warmth, but also introduces an element of natural beauty in the home. The sleek, black in-built joinery is both functional, yet also adds a sense of luxury.

The H-shaped plan of the home is ideal for the implementation of numerous passive design strategies – it allows for ample natural lighting, passive heating, and cross-ventilation. This means the house will remain at a comfortable temperature throughout the year, without the excessive need to use heating or cooling. The extensive glazing allows the use of passive lighting, and well as establishing a connection with the environment.
