Flinders House in House & Garden Magazine
Our Flinders House project was recently featured in the August issue of House & Garden Magazine. This gorgeous coastal beach house belongs to Janelle and Jason Coonan, who have had the property in their family for over 45 years.
They worked with Archiblox to replace the existing fibro shack on the site with a modern beach retreat for themselves and their two young children to enjoy.
The Coonan’s were drawn to the prefabricated nature of our construction model as it meant they could keep the existing house on the block whilst the new home was being built off-site.
As this house is not their main home, the Coonan’s were conscious to keep the design simple and easy to maintain. Through an efficient arrangement of the home into two wings, they were able to capitalise on the northern sunlight and views into the expansive front garden with its feature Oak tree.
The two distinct wings of the house separate the living and sleeping zones of the home. A second living space in the sleeping wing creates flexibility of a private retreat away from the noise of the main kitchen and living room.
We love the timeless nature of this design, which ensure the home will continue to be cherished in the family for many years to come.
