Celebrating NAIDOC Week:
Because of Her, We Can
8th - 15th of July
Between the 8th and 15th of July, NAIDOC Week celebrations will be taking place nationally to commemorate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Being one of the most culturally significant events for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, this is an opportunity for communities, councils, schools and workplaces to share and spread knowledge and culture to Australians from all walks of life.

Every year NAIDOC Week embodies a different theme with this years’ being ‘Because of her, we can!’ The theme places Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in the spotlight and unveils all the power, influence and feats that has been and continues to be exhibited throughout all stages of history. They carried ancient knowledge and wisdom – dreaming stories, languages, songlines and bush medicine. They influence the greater population as they fight for justice, social change, equal rights, rights to country and access to education. They pave the way for their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren and the many generations to come.
Trip to Gariwerd/Grampians
Our team at ArchiBlox aims to participate in events annually to engage in the Reconciliation Movement. As a part of NAIDOC Week 2017, we ventured to the magnificent sandstone ranges of Gariwerd (Grampians), visited the Brambuk Cultural Centre and hiked through the Wimmera plains. We traveled together as a team to a rural landscape to learn about the wonders of the ancient land we live and breathe in.
This year we plan on visiting the western edge of the volcanic plains in Budj Bim National Park in South West Victoria. The team would like to partake in a tour to learn more about Gunditjmara Country, People and History.

We recognize the traditional owners and custodians of the Australian land and pay our respect to their elders past and present.
