Archiblox Director, Bill McCorkell, presents at UDIA Qld Annual Developers Conference
'Tiny houses? Compact apartments? Dare we suggest… co-living?
Housing affordability, Generation Rent and the push towards infill development and limiting urban sprawl calls for a radical rethink of that place we call home.'
These were all topics touched on in the ‘Rethinking the home sweet home’ seminar at the UDIA Qld Annual Developers Conference, that our director, Bill, was invited to speak at.
His presentation focussed on prefabricated, modular architecture as a solution to the increasing population density of cities, but also as a way of living large, with less. Bill chose to talk about our ‘Collingwood House’ project, which is a unique home nestled into a small, urban site. Despite it’s small footprint, this home is beautifully sunlit, and harnesses principles of passive design to minimise the need for mechanical heating and cooling systems.
